Hockey Lockout
Today the continuation of the 2012-2013 season lockout of the NHL is in affect. There has only been four lockouts in NHL history and two of the four have occurred under the same hockey commissioner, Gary Bettman. What led to the lockout was the expiration of the NHL collective bargaining agreement. The collective bargaining agreement is the basic contract between the National Hockey League team owners and the NHL Players Association. So far there has been no talking between the players association and the league yet and the pre-season up until October 8th has been cancelled. Because of the current situation of the NHL many all-star players have gone over seas to places such as Germany, Russia, and Sweden to play in different leagues and if any changes occur they might not be able to return to the league because of the start of their other seasons.
